Hope everyone had a fab Bank Holiday Weekend! We enjoyed a wonderful 'girls weekend' in Paris for my sisters birthday, seeing the sights and drinking in the delights of what is one of our favourite cities. If you've never been or even if you are a regular visitor we thought you'd enjoy a little insight into some highlights of our trip, it was short but very sweet and we're definitely suffering some 'post Paris blues!' We flew in on Friday and have to say in recent years apart from being slightly cheaper than any other mode of transport , we always feel like we've gone further if we've flown. The airport (and airport shopping!) also gets us in the holiday mood! We flew with British Airways who were fantastic, especially as when they found out it was my sisters birthday, they kindly brought us complimentary Champagne for our flight! A perfect start to our girly weekend!
Our visit mainly consisted of shopping, eating and drinking...I think these are the main hobbies of everyone in Paris and that fits perfectly with us! ...but we also managed to do a little of the traditional sightseeing in the short time that we had. We popped into the Centre Pompidou, which is a very grand and quirky building housing the most wonderful array of art installations and is set in a beautiful square surrounded by fabulous shops and eateries. On Sunday we had a lovely day in the sunshine wandering down the Champs Elysee from the Arc de Triomphe to the Grand Palais and then further down to enjoy a delicious lunch on the River Seine. During our trip we also went and visited Place de Vosges with all its beautiful streets of independent art galleries, intermingled with cafes brimming with people watching the world go by fueled by copious amounts of fine wines and delicious food!
...Obviously we joined in...would be rude not to! Everyone needs a 'pit stop' for refueling after a hard days shopping and enjoying yourself! Talking of shopping... we then wandered down further through Marais which is beautiful and full of fabulous shops! We picked up some fab new make up bits and pieces in 'Make Up Forever' and Bobbi Brown, popped into Chanel to sample our favourite fragrances, and even bought a few make up items from a brand we hadn't heard of before called 'KIKO'. The make up is gorgeous and the packaging is mainly a rose gold colour, which I absolutely love! If you're not going to Paris anytime soon, we did find out that KIKO have a website here and they also have a stores in the UK including Westfield London.
All in all the weekend was full of beautiful things, from the shopping to the sightseeing and food and wine! The Parisians definitely know how to enjoy themselves and we love their lifestyle and their city and hope to go back again soon! We'll be doing some make-up posts soon and will definitely include some of our purchases so keep your eyes peeled for our next post! Have a wonderful week and we hope you get to enjoy some of this glorious Spring sunshine!
