Simple Style for the Bank Holiday Weekend!

Saturday, May 28, 2016

Happy Bank Holiday weekend! We're so pleased to see the sun is coming out for the long weekend and the start of the kids half term for all the parents out there! So sorry we've been a bit quiet here but it's been a busy week, so we thought we'd fill you in on what we've been up to and share some payday shopping inspiration! We were both at ITV Lorraine last Tuesday for some Spring/Summer fashion fixes from the high street for special occasions. Mark Heyes put together some fab outfits and showed how you can mix separates for occasion wear rather than going for a dress. You can catch up here (click link) and see the style items from the show, just scroll down to "Whatever the occasion, Marks got you covered."

Katherine was also at QVC this week modeling some Spring fashion for the lovely 'Together' team and is back this Sunday for 3 hours of 'Diamonique Spectacular' hosted by Julia Roberts. If you're on the look out to treat yourself or someone you love to something sparkly tune in to QVC at 2pm tomorrow.

We're now very much in the mood for this seasons style, the weather is slowly turning and it's such a relief to be able to walk out the door without a relentless amount of layers on! Feeling inspired, we thought we'd give you a taster today of some of our favourite picks from the high street this week that are catching our eye and a few choices from some online retailers too. Starting with the basics of simple style, we think one of the most important everyday items that anyone needs in their wardrobe is a great pair of jeans and we model regularly for a fabulous brand on QVC called Diane Gilman, they are definitely worth looking at if you haven't tried them before, we're not sure yet when the next show is but we'll try and keep you informed as soon as we hear. In the meantime, we feel like it's only fair to share with you that we've found some great jeans on the high street in a very unlikely place.... good old Dorothy Perkins! It isn't necessarily a store that anyone would look to first for jeans but the wide range of styles and very impressive fit has got us hooked at the moment. They have such a great variety of styles and also have a petite and tall range, which seems to be too rare a thing! Jane loves the 'Eden' fit, for it's soft denim/jegging feel, flat fitting waistband and the dark indigo colour option perfect for day or night. You can click the Dorthy Perkins link here to see Jane's pick and even better...there's currently 20% off, so you can try them for just £16! Katherine's pick is the 'Bailey' fit (see photo for link) she's got a curvy shape of a smaller waist and wider hips, so often she finds she gets that annoying 'gape' in the small of her back but this cut seems just right. Her favourite is the 'midwash ultra stretch skinny  Bailey jean', click for link here, they've also got 20% off at the moment so just £17.60. If you've got a few curves, like us, we definitely recommend you give them a try while the prices are this good! We're also loving the off the shoulder, Bardot/cold shoulder trend, at the moment and Katherine's just bought a great simple version of this at boohoo.com called the 'Tall Shirley Off the Shoulder Tee'. They're from the 'tall range' so you get a little bit of extra length in the body which we prefer and they look great just paired with jeans and a bit of jewellery for a simple easy Spring style. Click the link here to see this pick from boohoo.com.

Talking of simple separates, NewLook.com are also doing a great range of these looks including a 'Khaki Cold Shoulder Oversized Top' (click here for link newlook.com), it comes in 3 or 4 other colours but we love this khaki tone layered over a white cami and jeans with some gold jewellery (try these gold tone textured drop hoop earrings, click here) for a smart/casual look. This top comes in at only £9.99, so if you like the loose fit for easy summer days you could treat yourself to a couple of different colours, we loved the navy too and there's orange, lilac and yellow options also for anyone who loves a pop of colour! We were also inspired by this Green Floral Print Tie Waist Wrap Front Maxi Dress (click link here) for those hot summer days we have to look forward to, perfect for a summer garden party or BBQ for just £22.99! See more brand new Spring style looks from newlook.com, just click here.

We're big believers in taking taking simple separates and putting your own personal style stamp on them, so we hope you've found some inspiration here and we'll be keeping you updated with our top pics from the high street going forward. It's the beginning of June next week and you know it's got to be the start of a great month ahead when a Bank Holiday weekend lands on the same weekend as payday! Enjoy the sunshine and we'll be back soon with more!
