Spring Style Inspiration starts with Brilliant Basics

Friday, March 10, 2017

The sun has certainly "had it's hat on" for a few days this week and what a pleasure it's been....a taster of Spring....just getting up and out in the morning feels slightly easier and generally people seem to be in higher spirits when the sun's out! We've had a great time getting out to the shops to source some more top picks. We saw so many lovely tops in Zara and it all seems to be centered around statement sleeves, frills and clever tailoring, it's definitely worth a visit for some Spring essentials....but talking of Spring essentials or even 'any time of year' essentials!... One piece has definitely been a highlight and that is this white shirt (photographed below). We can't tell you how long we've both been searching for a great white shirt that looks great layered but is also a stand alone piece. Like that perfect fitting jean it tends to be something you need to invest time in finding. This shirt has it all for us. We love the feature gold tone buttons on the deep cuff and one on the collar. The fabric has a perfect amount of stretch to make this not only comfortable but it also washes well and creases very little and that's got to be a bonus with any white shirt! It has a deep split up the back of the center seam which is flattering and stylish and the length is perfect for layering when you want a hint of shirt peaking out under a layered jumper or jacket. It's just £10 in Primark, which means 1) We'll definitely be buying two, a good white shirt is hard to come by and can be styled so many ways! and 2) We can afford to invest in some great new shoes to go with our new shirt, like these tan Courts from Zara!

If you've been reading our blog for a while you'll know Katherine always has a certain draw to all things 'neutral' but we think everyone needs a pair of tan shoes for Spring, whether they're heels, courts, ballet pumps, wedges or sandals. They compliment every colour in your wardrobe and these ones from Zara are ideal for day to night in this beautiful tan leather. Find link here to Leather High Heel Shoes at www.zara.com. The Zara jacket with faux leather trim is a great shape and we love the contrast of the knit with the leather, it has slightly over sized patch pockets too, which we tend to prefer to side pockets that can sometimes spoil the line of a jacket like this. The slim sleeve balances the shape perfectly, we'd wear this with simple black separates underneath or denim jeans and a basic deep 'V' white tshirt (or with the Primark shirt as styled above), but again because of its neutral tone it will be very versatile in most wardrobes with most colours, especially Springs Pastel shades. For just £12.99 from Zara, this was a 'no brainer' for us as it's great for the weather right now and will be perfect all through Spring/early Summer. Find link here for Jacket with faux leather trim at www.zara.com. There you have it, three of our extremely versatile, stylish yet classic, absolute favourite pieces of the week and you can purchase all three for under £75! The same amount you could easily spend individually on a shirt, jacket OR shoes! So they'll not only make us look good and feel good but they'll help save the pennies too... making our bank balances look and feel good too! :)

We hope you've enjoyed our picks and are looking forward to more of the sunshine and Spring weather. We'll be back soon, wishing you all a fabulous weekend! X
