'Life's a beach'. . . then comes Autumn but want to know how to keep the glow?

Monday, September 18, 2017

Hello and so sorry we've been away from here a while! ...but we're back! We hope everyone had a wonderful Summer! There's a part of us that feels like the sun could have come out to play a few more times... but September isn't over just yet, so there's always hope (If you're ridiculously optimistic like us!) Did you manage to get away at all? We had a wonderful trip to Spain with family and ended up getting a fabulous 'holiday find' down in the Costa del Sol in a little place called Noray Playa near San Pedro de Alcantara. It's a beautiful place just 10-15 minutes down the road from the glitz and glamour of Puerto Banus but far enough away to feel like you get to enjoy the pure bliss of Spain in all its glory...including small independent bars and restaurants, long walks down the seafront and beaches where you can enjoy space and quiet. All of this but close enough to dip into the infamous shopping and nightlife of Marbella.

We were lucky enough to have been there when they were celebrating a 3 day long Summer Wellbeing festival on the beachfront and the local people came out in force to enjoy independent handmade clothing, art, jewellery and many more beautiful artisan stalls. There were also meditation and yoga workshops, live music and people salsa-ing down the streets, all ending with huge groups of family and friends enjoying barbecues and music on the beach until the small hours. The whole area had a very authentic laidback Spanish vibe that we miss when holidaying in the centre of some holiday resorts. The main town of San Pedro which is a little further in from the coast was currently undergoing some construction work in the centre but we were still able to enjoy lots of the local restaurants, bars and shops and we can't wait to visit again when the works are complete, as there were some beautiful independent boutiques that definitely looked worth a longer visit! A special 'shout out' has to go to the 'Pampita' restaurant in San Pedro though, a fabulous family run eatery, which offers great value, wonderful food and the warmest of welcomes. Our meal was delicious, the atmosphere was warm and friendly and you can always tell a fabulous place when the owner is hosting a family banquet of their own inside! The owner greeted and mingled with each table and we got a real feel for old style hospitality, this one's definitely worth a visit if you're in the area. We also found some wonderful beach restaurants and bars dotted along the coastline as we wandered down towards Puerto Banus enjoying a glass of Sangria along the way and with the beautiful weather that this region enjoys for the majority of the year, I think we'll be visiting again soon!

Every time we book any sort of trip we love looking into different deals whether they be package holidays or independently sourced flights and accommodation. Getting away for a break is so important and we always want to make sure we're getting exactly what we want for the best value. This time we booked our flights and accommodation separately. Monarch came in as great value and good flight times so it was a winner for us! We booked their 'Essentials Pack' which includes standard flight, pre-booked seat, 23kg hold luggage p/p and online check in. To check their latest flight deals click here: www.monarch.co.uk

We booked a fabulous private apartment with pool on the beachfront of Noray Playa, near San Pedro de Alcantara through Booking.com and they have some fabulous deals right now if you're looking for a late Summer get away that is just 10/15 minutes walk away or 5 minute taxi away from the social hub and glamour of Puerto Banus but far enough away to enjoy the calm and beauty of an area full of beautiful beaches and local flair. Click here to see the latest deals available in the vicinity of San Pedro de Alcantara www.booking.com

Booking our flights and accommodation separately for this trip worked out perfectly for us and all that was left to do was transfers. We booked them through www.malagatransfer.co.uk and had a great experience, the drivers were very prompt, the price was very competitive and the drivers really friendly and helpful. All in all, a wonderful trip!

We've been back a little while now and apart from missing the copious amounts of delightful sangria and 'gambas pil pil' (one of our favourite dishes to enjoy whilst in Spain), we've obviously been missing the sun! The one saving grace is, although we've missed the warmth, we have managed to cling onto our colour with a little help from some fabulous products. We've mentioned it before on one of our previous posts but Gatineau Tan Accelorator is our no.1 go to product when planning a holiday.  We use it for a few weeks before we go to prepare our skin for the sun, we're not sure of the science behind it but it definitely changes the way our bodies catch the sun. Our skin feels 'prepared' and it has given us a deeper longer lasting colour since we've been using it. We also use it as an aftersun on holiday to moisturise our skin and further nurture our skin ready for the harsh rays of 30 plus degrees, (always using a good suncare regime during the day in addition to this) it also adds huge longevity to your colour if you continue using it when you return. As usual we've done a little research for you too, so whether you've got a holiday coming up or just daydreaming of your next trip already (like us!) and want to put it in the bathroom cabinet at the ready, we've found a great offer at allbeauty.com. Not only is it a great price at the moment (over 30% off RRP when we last checked) but they have free delivery too currently, so more pennies to put into the spending pot! Click the link to go to www.allbeauty.com for Gatineau Tan Accelerator.

We've been back a few weeks now so obviously we've been topping up our tans a little now with the help of one our new best friends, 'best friends' in the beauty cupboard that is!... Decleor Gradual Glow! We can't tell you how many people we've recommended this

product to now and how happy they've been with the results! As you may remember from previous posts we were latecomers to the world of Decleor and it wasn't really until a girly trip to Champneys that we really discovered this product and the love affair began. It's part of the Decleor 'Aroma Confort' range, the texture is just divine and the results are simply perfect for us! The Gradual glow comes out of the bottle as a white silky lotion and you apply it as you would any body moisturiser but don't be fooled... the colour will come... so we do thoroughly recommend always washing your hands after use or preferably using gloves to protect your palms from the tell tale signs of self tan. After application we usually use a damp cotton wool pad to glide over our elbows and heels and any other dryer areas that self tan is infamous for clinging too and ruining the illusion. We start seeing the colour deepen within a couple of hours after application and our skin feels moisturised with a healthy nourished glow to it.  If you fancy adding a little extra glow to your skin in these late Summer months and going into Autumn we've sourced this product at a great price again (over 25% off RRP at the time of this post going live) just click here www.allbeauty.com for Decleor Aroma Confort Gradual Glow Hydrating Body Milk 400ml.

We'll be back soon with more tips and insights, in the meantime we'll both be on QVC UK on Thursday evening at 9pm for Ruth Langsfords Fashion Edit, can't wait to see what her latest picks are this week! Then....'obviously!'....Saturday night we'll be tuning in to the 'Strictly' launch on BBC1 to support the lovely Ruth in her new adventure with the charming Anton! Can't wait to see their first dance! X #StrictlyTeamRuth :)
