We're so thankful that 2017 brought us more fun and frolics in our modeling adventures and the continued most rewarding part of OneYou, helping people to restyle their closets and taking them out to the shops to find new inspiration for their wardrobes! It is a wonderful feeling to know that someone looks and feels truly amazing and we've had a part to play in that. That is also why we hope that some of our shared experiences, product reviews/recommendations and style inspiration in this blog may just help more people to find new items that enhance the way they look and feel. Be sure to keep an eye out on our 'Shop & Social' page for some of our most favourite recommendations including some of our 'go to' beauty products for hair, nails and make up. We've had a busy and fun start to January. We were back working with the lovely team at ITV Lorraine last week, modeling some fab monochrome fashion from the high street and then last weekend back at QVC with a very familiar face from ITV! We could be forgiven for forgetting where we were completely! If you haven't heard or seen yet, the lovely Ruth Langsford now has her own label on QVC. It's a fabulous collection of wardrobe classics, everyday essentials and key style pieces for the season. From well tailored jackets, pencil skirts and dresses to everyday essential t-shirts. We especially love the 'Ruth Langsford Fluted Sleeve Lace Dress', such a great classic for special occasions and events, the lace is beautifully soft with the perfect amount of stretch for movability and comfort and the elegant neckline and midi length are both flattering and slightly 'Jackie O-esque'... We've seen this dress on a number of different ladies at the studios now and it seems to work for everyone, emphasizing everybodys best bits! Take a look at this and the rest of her collection including some great basic wardrobe essentials by clicking this link Ruth Langsford QVCUK.
Aside from getting out and about working at some of our favourite places, we do feel currently like January should actually be renamed the 'Christmas Hangover Month!' I don't think we're the only ones who find it hard to find as many redeeming features in this month as the others of the year! So many people we know have been struck down with the nasty coughs and colds going around. It feels like our British hardiness is being tested by the cold, wet, dark days and nights and all our of bank balances could do with a boost after a December full of frivolities. Aside from people who may be celebrating birthdays (We don't want to put a downer on your birth month, we love any reason for celebration!) or the clever few who prebooked holidays! (Well done and hats off to you! Genius idea!)... it feels for the rest of us like we have to work that little bit harder to find our 'Mojo's and search for that secret ingredient to give our days a boost!
Our secret ingredient... good rest, taking care of yourself and finding new little bargains to ease these Winter days in other ways! Read on...
One of our lovely friends we visited before Christmas recommended we invest in new pillowcases? Now, this was a new one?! Usually when we're having girly chats over a glass of wine or two, this lady would be more likely to be talking about make up, beauty products, new shoes, or possibly our mutual admiration of Elvis's good looks in the '68 comeback special... ( he was a good looking man but if you haven't seen that footage on YouTube and you're a fan like us...take a look and swoon!) I've digressed...but seriously we had definitely never discussed bed linen choices... or more specifically 'pillowcases' before, so we were intrigued. She'd treated herself to some beautiful silk pillowcases last year and swears that she has slept better, wakes up with less of the dreaded 'deep sleep creases' and significantly less 'bedhead' since she's had them! Well... because this was an unusual subject to have covered and we did continue to talk about all the other subjects above subsequently... we had totally forgotten about them!... Until a random day browsing the stores and coming across something similar in satin on sale... you know how much we all love something even more when its in the sale! Now, everything she had said came back to us and although these are satin not silk, in comparison to our usual pillowcases, we've definitely noticed a difference. A difference in our skin in the morning and our hair... not to mention the truly indulgent feeling of going to sleep nestled into such a silky feeling fabric on ones face! It feels ever so slightly like an old school 'Hollywood' movie star indulgence having any satin or silk bedding, even if it is just a pillow case... and although we've not invested in any matching silk floor length marabou cuffed dressing gowns yet... we're sure a lot of ladies watching the Elvis special live in 1968 would have been donning these...or so we like to think in our imagination! There is truly something that feels decadent about sleeping on silk or satin though and it feels like a bit of a 'treat' and a 'feel good' treat of any kind is most welcome in January. Want to try this tempting treat? We've sourced this luxurious 100% Silk version with a cotton underside on Amazon.co.uk that comes in a range of shades to suit most colour schemes. It seems an absolute bargain with over five hundred '5 Star' reviews, so if you fancy having a little Hollywood experience yourselves (improved 'bed head' and the potential of less wrinkles could be a pure bonus!) Another fabulous range that we use when we need a little extra help in having a restful nights sleep, is the Award Winning 'This Works' sleep solutions range. A collection that we have mentioned on the blog before that uses the soothing scents of aromas like lavender and camomile in a beautiful variety of natural products. We like to use a combination of the Deep Sleep Pillow Spray, as a gentle mist on our pillows and the Deep Sleep Breathe In, a simple roll on that we apply to our pulse points and temples, but each individually on their own are wonderful. Just by breathing in their gentle fragrance and combination of aromas they seem to settle your mind and body, happily easing it into a restful enjoyable sleep. We spyed that www.marksandspencer.com currently have an offer on this range and you'll receive a free gift of Deep Sleep Bath Soak when you buy two 'This Works' selected products. We can't think of a better time than January to take up the opportunity to try a new product for the bathroom cabinet like natural sleep inducing bath salts... just add a glass of wine and candles and this sounds like a heavenly end to any cold Winters day. We genuinely feel ready for a nap now after all this sleepy talk but i'm sure we'll be catching up on another episode of Grace & Frankie's new series on Netflix first! Great viewing and highly recommended for a girls night in! Enjoy and we'll be back soon X
